skimboarding locals

Yeah.. It’s been a while, I’ve been busy doing some geeky stuff, and I forgot to post updates. Anyway, it feels good to meet skimmers online, and feels good to discuss all things about skimboarding, and when it comes to that, there’s only one site that you can get fresh updates about what’s happening in our own Filipino skimboarding community, yes, it’s Padagata.com.

Skim Jam Session with the Champions

As usual, my parents went to Tacloban (again) to work on some papers, so I got the chance to hang out at Tanauan. When I arrived at the beach, there were skimmers already, Tals and Stephen (Longkoy’s brother), then we just start talking and skimming. An hour later, we moved to another spot, and Stephen insisted that I should try his board, man.. it was my first time to use a Victoria skimboard.. haha.. felt good.. hmm.. I was thinking of getting my own board too… I wonder how much it’ll cost.

Obet Yunuario - Dec 2007 National Skimboarding Champion

I got stuck with work these past few months and haven't had a time for myself, but good thing my dad went to Tacloban City for a seminar, so I went with him but straight to Tanauan instead. When i got off from the van, I was really excited(coz i haven't played skimboarding for 2 years), then I heard the loud sound of waves crushing to the shore. As I got close to the shore, I saw huge swells at the "Oilers Point" and nobody was playing 'cause it was high tide and no space to run. So I just went to some shade and wait the for my local friend, Obet, to come out and taking photos of the waves.
