Hi! My name is Von, I am a web developer, currently living and working in Bangkok, Thailand, currently living in the Philippines and open for freelance, and I look more like a bum than geek, haha. I’m a sucker for beaches and skimboarding, and I would love to stay for days if I’m free from work and play skimboarding all day long. I love to design websites but when I started to work as a PHP programmer, most of my time was consumed by programming rather than designing. I became a PHP and MYSQL fan when I was in college where my group mates and I did a thesis project about a social media sharing site, and unfortunately we stopped developing it. Other than web stuff, I’m into photography too.

What’s with the name?

Honestly, I did not come up with this name “skimmerboi”, it was my room mates who came up with this because I often play skimboarding and they started to call me “skimmerboi”, it’s like when they see me on other places they’ll call me “hey! Skimmerboi!”. It was annoying at first ‘cause I knew it sounds cheesy and I’m really not that good, but I like it anyway, haha.

Professional Background

I began working in November 2006 in a travel agency in Bangkok as a junior PHP programmer, which helped me became mature in PHP and MYSQL. After a year and four months, our project stopped and I moved to another company, Westkit Software, which I can say a kick-ass company (well, for me ^__^). Currently, I worked as a web developer and being trained for SEO along with the kick-ass developers and designers. Now, I'm back in the Philippines, and I'm open for freelance.

Personal Stuff

I grew up in Isabel, a small and peaceful town in Leyte, Philippines, where I spent most of time with my family, beaches, basketball with my younger brother and high school friends and church, yeah church. I went college at Cebu Institute of Techonology in Cebu where I took my bachelors degree in Information Techonology.

While in college, early-2005, I started to play skimboarding and made it one of my to-do list. I skimboard for fun, yeah, and I know I’m not that good, ‘cause I prioritized school and now, work.

Recently, I got into photography, which is a dream came true. I’m passionate in capturing emotions, scenery, or fun stuff and put them in a piece of image called art.

To sum it all, I’m a fun guy, but also passive, I love to travel and try different kinds of food, I believe in Jesus Christ, I’m blessed to have a wonderful family, and I’m happy to have a loving girlfriend, Mariel.

About this Site

Well, I’m using Drupal CMS, and did all the graphics and hand coded the XHTML and CSS, some JQuery and sIFR for headers. I chose these colors to give a warm feeling in this site, I like clean websites but for my site I want it to be messy, so the fonts are perfect, I forgot their names but you can find them at dafonts.com.
